GREETINGS FROM THE BOARD

Over the last several months, the ABAA Board of Directors has been diligently working on a strategic plan for the Association with the help of an independent consultant. We are now in the finalization stage, and beginning our implementation strategies. The strategic plan created by the Board is realistic, yet ambitious. We are all dedicated to the plan, not only in growing the Association to maximum potential, but also in positioning ABAA as the voice of the air barrier industry.

ADOPTION OF IECC

On December 16 2011, the DC Construction Codes Coordinating Board (CCCB) voted 7-1 to adopt the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). For commercial buildings, this means continuous air barriers will be required in many buildings.

What happens when an abaa specified project gets awarded to a non accredited contractor?

ABAA-specified jobs are being awarded to our accredited air barrier contractors. However, what happens when an ABAA-specified project is awarded to a non accredited contractor?

On occasion, the ABAA office will receive notification from an ABAA-accredited air barrier contractor advising us they have not been successful on the job award, and they are concerned that the project may have been awarded to a non accredited contractor. Recently, our office received one of these calls.
